Mosaic Glass Tile

script>
The size and design of a glass tile can look the same no matter what the type is, thus making it hard for you to choose. There is an array of designs and now, shapes that are manufactured and sold. This would definitely make it quite hard to pick out the perfect design. This is true to a certain point but it may all depend on your creativity and imagination. So why not turn to glass tile mosaic to achieve one whole, unique but coherent pattern?

The idea of mixing different patterns of tiles dates back to the Byzantine era when the mosaic design was used as highlight to their architectural masterpieces. The ceilings, walls, floors and windows show evidence of the Byzantine culture's ingenuity and craftsmanship. The mosaic patterns defined the era as well as create a blueprint for today's designs that is very much valued and respected.

For the modern times, tile mosaic exhibits elegance and style. It characterizes the home-owner's or the design architect's excellent taste. With high versatility these tiles make ideal outdoor decorations. They are commonly installed in swimming pools because of the shimmering appearance underwater. They are also used for kitchen backsplashes with mix and match designs.

Bathroom tiles on the floor and on the walls make the room look vibrant. The cool surface of the tiles helps maintain a comfortable room temperature. How to achieve all those look is a different story all together. In spite of the beauty it possesses, a glass tile is still fragile to some extent. It is prone to cracking and chipping and extra care should be applied when handling it. Not all house builders or even glass dealers can claim to be expert handlers because not all are made up of the same materials nor underwent the same manufacturing process.

However, there are some basic information that one must understand to serve as guides during the installation process. Manufacturers would usually make tiles that are either face- or mesh-mounted for easy installing. There is a different method for installing each one although all of them are made with glass ridges on the backside to provide space for the adhesive.

Always remember that gluing tiles to the walls or floors requires expert handling. Do not attempt to do this unless you have had enough experience in handling such because you might end up with more wasted tiles than what you began with. One tile cutter should not be used for all tile types. Use the appropriate tools for each one. For a glass tile, use mosaic glass cutters for that clean, smooth cut.

It will minimize tile wastage due to cracks and chip offs. In mounting your tiles or placing them on the floor, use concrete backer boards to support them. These backer boards can safely secure the tiles and with the correct adhesive, last longer. Varying materials to complement tiles differ for outdoors and indoors. Stronger and more weather resistant materials are needed for outdoor-used tiles in building facades, swimming pools and windows.

Manufacturers can better explain on the process they used for a particular tile. These do not come with a warranty. A damaged glass tile under your care will not be replaced which is why better handling can spell the difference between spending more than what the project is really worth.
